button-red2The preseason is widely panned for lacking excitement, and the NFL Hall of Fame Game means even less in the grand scope of things, but it does represent the first time the fans get to see actual football being played in a long time. While the NFL has done everything it can to stretch out the events in the offseason and build them up, nothing compares to actual football.

Said football will come in the form of a game between the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Field in Canton, Ohio. It will be broadcast on ESPN for the first time, with a live stream available via WatchESPN.

The game is to celebrate the Class of 2016 for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which features Brett Favre, a legendary Packers quarterback, and Tony Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning coach with the Colts. It also features Marvin Harrison, a Colts receiver who earned a Super Bowl ring catching passes from Peyton Manning. An enshrinement ceremony took place for all inductees on Saturday evening.

As for the game, it’s unclear which starters will play, if any. One shouldn’t expect to see Aaron Rodgers dueling Andrew Luck for any real length of time, especially after Jordy Nelson tore his ACL during the preseason last year. The different weeks of the preseason have varying degrees of importance, with most suggesting the third week is the most important, and typically sees starters playing the most.

Which means the Hall of Fame Game — a fifth preseason game for both the Packers and the Colts — essentially comes out to be the least important game either team could play. But it’s a good opportunity for fringe roster candidates to try and prove they deserve a spot. Whatever the case, it’s actual football, and the details for how to watch the game are below.
