While Week Two may be a little early to be talking about undefeated records, the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings come into their game, which will live stream on Sunday, each having won their first contest of the 2016 National Football League season — and each looking to take the top spot in the NFC North.
The game will be the 110th meeting between the two cold-weather, midwestern rival teams — a series that has seen Green Bay with the edge, winning 58 against 49 Vikings wins and two ties. But the Packers have won 10 of the last 13 meetings between the teams, losing only two with one tie.
But the Vikings may have begun to reverse that dominance by closing out the 2015 regular season with a rare victory over Green Bay, overcoming a 291-yard performance by Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers — and a mere 67 yards on the ground from their own star running back Adrian Peterson, to defend their home field by a 20-13 score.
This time, however, the Vikings will need to find a way to get points on the board without starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who is sidelined for the season with a torn ACL, which required surgery.
Instead, Minnesota brought in 28-year-old Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles and are expected to start the 2010 No. 1 overall draft pick over Shaun Hill, who led the Vikings past the Tennessee Titans in Week One despite failing to throw a touchdown pass in the game.
