Andy Murray ended a 77-year drought for British men at Wimbledon in 2013, becoming the first British men’s champion since Fred Perry went three in a row from 1934-36. Now Murray is two matches away from becoming the first two-time British winner since Perry as well.

Murray, the second seed, is the hometown favorite, as usual at The Championships, but is also the actual favorite for the first time in his career. That’s because Novak Djokovic, the top-seeded Serbian, found himself on the losing end of a match against American Sam Querrey in the third round of the tournament.

Querrey has since been eliminated by Milos Raonic, who will take on Roger Federer in the semifinals on Friday. Murray will be playing in the other semifinal matchup, facing off against No. 10 Tomas Berdych. Federer and Raonic are both intimidating finals opponents, but Murray cannot overlook Berdych, who is also looking to make history.

Berdych, 30, would become the first man from the Czech Republic to win a Grand Slam title since it became its own country in 1993. Berdych has played in the semifinals of every Grand Slam but has only made it to one final — in 2010 at Wimbledon, where he fell to Rafael Nadal in straight sets.

Murray and Berdych have met 14 times, with Murray winning eight to Berdych’s six. Most recently, Murray has dominated the matchup, winning the last four meetings. Murray took Berdych out of the semifinals at the 2015 Australian Open, and the semifinal of the 2012 US Open. Berdych last won on the hard courts in Cincinnati in 2013.

The two have never met on grass courts, but Murray has been playing the better tennis of late. After messing up in the French Open with several extended matches, including two five-setters to start the tournament, Murray has been dominant throughout Wimbledon. Then again, their quarterfinal matches were a lot different, with Murray being pushed to five sets against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga while Berdych dominated Lucas Pouille in straight sets.

Friday’s semifinal will take place on Centre Court, but it will be the second match played on the court. The first will see Federer face off against Raonic in the other semifinal, beginning at 8 a.m. ET. ESPN will broadcast both matches, with live streams available at WatchESPN.
