Another COVID-19 death reported in Sunday update

WATERLOO REGION — Another death related to COVID-19 was reported Sunday by public health officials.

That brings the number of related deaths in Waterloo Region since the pandemic began to 292.

An additional 28 cases were reported in the Sunday update, bringing the total to 19,248.

Variants of concern cases rose by 29 to 5,203. Active cases rose by 14, to 199.

The number of people presently hospitalized remained at 11; nine of those individuals are in intensive care. Hospital data is current to Thursday.

No additional outbreaks were reported; there are five current outbreaks, involving a total of 15 cases, including seven at a manufacturing/industrial workplace.

A total of 18,753 cases are considered resolved.
